About Encompass Counseling
Small business, one person operation. Women owned and operated. Not a huge agency where the therapists are over worked, underpaid, and burnt out.
Toward Greater Clarity, Choice & Connection
Being witnessed and held in the presence of a caring, authentic, and engaging other can create space for healing, growth, and connection to your authentic self.
A Different Way of Understanding Therapy
At Encompass Counseling, we believe therapy is about more than managing symptoms or learning strategies to cope.
It's an opportunity to slow down and better understand yourself—your emotions, your relationships, your patterns, and the experiences that have shaped the way you move through the world.
When we understand why we respond the way we do, we can begin to have more choice in how we respond.
That doesn't mean becoming someone different. It means becoming more connected to yourself and having greater freedom to choose what comes next.
A Place to Feel Seen, Heard & Understood
Many people who come to therapy have spent a long time trying to manage things on their own.
They may look like they're doing well from the outside while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. They may know something isn't working but aren't sure how to change it.
Therapy offers a different kind of space—one where you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin.
Healing often happens in relationship. Feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood can make it possible to slow down, become curious about what's happening beneath the surface, and begin to approach yourself with greater compassion.
How We Understand Trauma
Trauma isn't limited to one type of experience or event.
It can develop when an experience overwhelms our ability to process what happened, leaving our nervous system, emotions, beliefs, or relationships affected long after the experience itself has ended.
Sometimes the impact is obvious. Other times, it shows up in ways that seem unrelated—anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shutting down, difficulty trusting, perfectionism, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from yourself.
These responses aren't signs that something is wrong with you. Often, they developed as ways of protecting you.
Understanding those patterns can create space for something new.
What We Believe
You Don't Have to Figure It Out Alone
Reaching out for therapy can be difficult, especially when you're used to handling things yourself. You don't have to know exactly what you need before you begin.
Your Responses Make Sense
Even patterns that no longer serve you often developed for a reason. Understanding them with curiosity and compassion can be the beginning of change.
Healing Happens in Relationship
Feeling safe, seen, and understood by another person can create the foundation for meaningful healing and growth.
Change Doesn't Mean Becoming Someone Else
Therapy isn't about fixing who you are. It's about becoming more aware of yourself, your needs, and your choices so you can live and relate in ways that feel more authentic.
An Integrative Approach
There isn't one therapy approach that works for everyone.
Encompass Counseling uses an integrative, collaborative approach that draws from trauma-informed, attachment-based, experiential, and somatic parts-based therapies.
The focus isn't on choosing a modality first.
We'll start with you.
